Jane Champion recently produced a great video about PTFF that should bring back memories of past fests, and captures the mood of PTFF for those who haven't been before. Click below to play:

For a weekend, PTFF creates it's own community where we all have something in common. It brings films to town that we might never have a chance to see any other way, and offers points of view we might not otherwise consider when standing in front of the rack at the video rental place, or when deciding whether or not to go to the theatre.

This year's festival will be showing films from or about places including Alaska, Attu Island, Brooklyn, Canada, Dallas, Germany, The I-5 Corridor, Los Angeles, Manhattan, Papua New Guinea, Patagonia, Spain, Japan, New Orleans, and Russia!

Full PTFF scheduling can be seen here, but here are a few tidbits:

Author Sherman Alexie will introduce and discuss the opening night film, "The Exiles," a remastered 1950s dramatic film about American Indians transplanted from their traditional homes to downtown Los Angeles.

Robert Osborne will return to interview this year's special guest, whose identity will be announced August 20.

The NPR program, West Coast Live, will broadcast live Saturday morning, its fifth appearance at the Upstage Theatre and Restaurant during the festival.

The makers of the 2006 sleeper hit, "Little Miss Sunshine," will present a preview of their newest effort, "Sunshine Cleaning," starring Amy Adams, Emily Blunt, and Alan Arkin. Despite the repeat of Arkin and the word "sunshine" in the title, this new movie has nothing to do with the story of the earlier work. Produceer Marc Turtletaub will attend this closing night film.

The best way to keep PTFF going is to support it by attending! There is still time to get your 2008 Festival Pass! Getting a pass is really the only way to get the full immersion experience of PTFF, and in addition you'll be doing your part to support the other free things put on festival weekend, like the outdoor movies, and the drop in theatre at the community center. If you don’t have the whole weekend free, advance tickets are also available (to members now and everyone else on Sept. 15).

Thanks for reading this far, and I hope you'll join us this year at PTFF 2008!

Best of the Peninsula!

Just yesterday, the Peninsula Daily News published their Best of the Peninsula supplement, and we are proud to announce that we received the honor of Best Photographer for Jefferson County!
